META TAGSMETA Tags are tags that should be in the HEAD section of your page, for use by Search Engines. There are many META tags in use, but the only ones you are likely to need are the "description" and "keywords" tags.<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="here you put your keywords for search engines. Separate them with commas, use all forms of the words."> <META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="here you put the information you want search engines to tell about your page"> Most search engines use the information in your META tags to index your pages, so you should be sure to include in the "keywords" tag as many words as you can think of that a person interested in your page might request from a search engine. If any of the words are easily misspelled, you should also include the misspelling in your keywords. The content of your "description" tag is used by most search engines to show to prospective visitors. Since different search engines use different length descriptions, it's a good idea to put the most important things first, so that if your description gets cut off in the middle you won't lose the best part. Be sure to put quotation marks around your description and your keywords, and DON'T use quotation marks within the description or list of keywords. |
