Thank you for visiting WebMasterKnowHow.com - If you can suggest things that should be added to the site I would like to hear about them. Anything regarding hosting, HTML, attracting traffic, problems and mistakes. I intend to make this site as useful as I can, and with that in mind I'm trying to add at least one new topic every week.

About me and my website

Donna O'Gara

I'm a fifty-something California girl. For many years I spent my time with my Arabian gelding, the Late, Great Raml Rhandy. We traveled throughout southern California competing in Endurance rides (we came in last, frequently, but we had a good time) and competetive trail rides (we did well in those). When Rhandy was to old to participate any more, I started going without him, working as a volunteer at the rides.

I also began riding other peoples' horses. It took me several years to figure out what should have been obvious: I kept getting hurt. I would recover from one injury only to return to riding and get hurt again. So I gave it up, at least for now.

These days I'm volunteering with the Los Angeles Maritime Institute. We have 70 and 90 foot sailing ships (tall ships) that we use to take "at-risk" kids out of their troubled environment. I usually sail with kids 2 or 3 times a month. During the winter we just go out for day-sails. In the summer we go out for 4 or 5 days at a time.

My lifestyle doesn't go well with the usual type of job, so I had to make my own job. I've been making websites since 1996. In those days the programs available for making HTML code were limited, at best, and I learned to do all my coding by hand. That's the approach I recommend to everyone who asks, but I find that more and more people are using programs to do their pages for them.

Every now and then someone asks me for help making a website, and I tell them what I've learned. Sometimes I make a page that explains some part of website making. Finally, at the beginning of 2002 I decided to pull all my information together and make a website out of it. WebmasterKnowHow.com is a constantly evolving project, as people continue to ask new questions.

I'm trying to make a living with my websites. You can help. I have sponsors for my sites that pay me a commission when someone comes to them from my site and buys something.
